The Reefton CFA Fire Brigade is a volunteer emergency service dedicated to protecting the Reefton community and surrounding areas. As part of the Country Fire Authority (CFA), our members respond to a wide range of incidents including bushfires, structure fires, road accidents, storm damage, and other emergencies where our community needs assistance.
Our role in the community
Operating in a region surrounded by forest and rural properties, the brigade plays a vital role in bushfire preparedness and response. During the fire season, members are on call to respond quickly to incidents, working closely with neighbouring brigades and emergency services to protect lives, homes, and the environment.
Outside of emergency response, the brigade is actively involved in community education and fire prevention. We support local preparedness initiatives, assist with fire safety awareness, and participate in community events to help residents better understand how to stay safe during emergencies.
A volunteer brigade
The Reefton CFA Brigade is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers who give their time to serve the community. Our members come from many different backgrounds and occupations, but all share a commitment to helping others and supporting their local area.
Volunteering with CFA provides opportunities to learn valuable skills in firefighting, teamwork, leadership, and emergency management. Members receive training and support to ensure they can respond safely and effectively when needed.
Supporting local and beyond
While our primary focus is the local area, brigade members may also assist with larger incidents across Victoria when additional resources are required. This cooperative approach is a key part of the CFA network, ensuring communities across the state receive support during major emergencies.
